EUTOPIA Participates in European Education and Innovation Summit

The EUTOPIA alliance participated in the 2nd European Education and Innovation Summit in Brussels on 27 June 2023. The summit was a significant gathering of key players in education and innovation, aiming to nurture Europe's talents and shape the future. EUTOPIA was represented by Tiziana Lippiello, the Chair of the EUTOPIA alliance, and Mattia Bellotti, its Secretary-General. Slovenia's Education Minister, Igor Papic, was also among the key speakers at the summit this morning. Former rector of the University of Ljubljana, Igor Papic is one of the founders of the EUTOPIA alliance. Rector Tiziana Lippiello's contribution to the summit as a speaker on the Panel discussion “Education and Innovation: drivers for Skills Development'”, focused on promoting an entrepreneurial and innovation-driven academy in Europe.

The Education and Innovation Summit is a platform bringing together diverse stakeholders and creating an environment conducive to knowledge sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices. Its ultimate goal is to empower the education sector to drive entrepreneurial and innovation-led growth across Europe. As the European Commission, EUTOPIA believes in the power of Higher Education to transform societies and drive sustainable economic development. Transforming Research can create an ecosystem with private companies and governments that enables students, researchers, and innovators to thrive through collaboration and a shared vision.

Aligned with the European Year of Skills priorities, this year's summit emphasised the development of talent and future-proof skills. The gathering recognised the need to equip pupils, students, researchers, and lifelong learners with skills that match their ecosystems' current and future needs, especially in green, digital, and entrepreneurial skills.

The summit had an impressive list of attendees, including European and national policymakers, and representatives from Higher Education institutions in Europe, such as European University Alliances, the European Network of Innovative Higher Education Institutions, and the Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
