EUTOPIA Scores BIG in ERC Grant Funding



The European Research Council (ERC) has announced awarding of 218 Advanced Grants to outstanding research leaders across Europe, as part of the Horizon Europe programme. The grants - totalling €544 million - support cutting-edge research in a wide range of fields, from medicine and physics to social sciences and humanities. Eight researchers from EUTOPIA partner universities are selected for the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant Funding this year. EUTOPIA congratulates the awardees and the hosting institutions for their exemplary achievements. Following are the details of the awardees:

Project Title: Breaking the Inequality-Crime Cycle: Biases in Police Decisions, 'What Works' in Prison, and Firm Demand for Workers with Criminal Records

3. Mijam Mencej, University of Ljubljana
Project Title: The Roles of the Agency of the Dead in the Lives of Individuals in Contemporary Society

4. Mariana Pinho, NOVA University of Lisbon
Project Title: Finding the Missing Links in the Bacterial Cell Cycle

5. Yin Chen, University of Warwick
Project Title: An integrated ecophysiology and omics study of phosphorus limitation in methane-oxidising bacteria (EcoMethane)

6. Roberto Gargarella, Pompeu Fabra University
Project Title: Institutional Changes for Democratic Dialogue

7. Barbara Rossi, Pompeu Fabra University
Project Title: Advances in Empirical Methods for Time Series and Forecasting in Unstable Environments

8. Ignacio Ruiz-Trillo, Pompeu Fabra University
Project Title: Search for the Missing Unicellular Relatives of Animals
