Connected Communities in Action: Environmental Humanities Spring Schools 2025 in Venice

The EUTOPIA Connected Community Environmental Humanities, joining Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the University of Warwick, NOVA University Lisbon and TUD Dresden University of Technology, is launching two Spring Schools in Venice. They will explore the EH regenerative process, bearing significant potential for healing the self, communities and social-ecological systems.

In the “EUTOPIA Spring School on EH as a Regenerative Process. Reconnecting Ethics, Knowledge, and Action” (19-23 May 2025) participants will be guided through a co-creative redefinition of EH ethics, practices, and desirable goals, exploring the potential of such vision(s) to imagine and effect social-ecological regeneration, based on an archetypal example located in the Venetian Lagoon. The format is co-creative, based on a Theory-U approach.

The “EUTOPIA Spring School on Ecolinguistics" (15-16 May 2025) will offer a deeper understanding of the nexus between language, discourse, power, and sustainability transformations. It will go through the development and current trends in ecolinguistic research as well as qualitative and quantitative methods for ecological discourse analysis. Participants will experience in an interactive way hands-on methods for collaborative analysis and re-storying of environmental texts and corpus-based analysis on large amounts of textual data. Online participation from EH-oriented EUTOPIA MA and PhD students will be welcome (registration until 12/05/25).
