TOURNESOL funding opportunity for young researchers from CYU and the VUB

Two-year research mobilities are available in all scientific disciplines for researchers with less than 12 years of postdoctoral experience. Call open until March 28, 2022.

TOURNESOL is a scientific exchange programme supported by the FWO and the Embassy of France in Brussels in which travel grants are allocated in the framework of selected scientific mobility projects. The goal of TOURNESOL is to further sustain and expand the collaborations between the Flanders region and France.

This is a perfect opportunity for junior researchers from VUB and Cergy to strengthen their research collaboration. The TOURNESOL programme focuses on junior researchers. As a consequence:

  • On the Flemish side, the Principal Investigator can only have a postdoctoral experience of maximally 12 years. The researchers performing the exchanges towards France have to have less than 12 years of postdoctoral experience as well.
  • On the French side, priority is also given to junior researchers. The seniority of the Principal Investigator and the researchers performing the exchanges towards Flanders will be taken into account when evaluating the project proposals.
Practical information:
  • The research projects are for a duration of two years.
  • All scientific disciplines are eligible.
  • Funding covers travel and accommodation expenses of junior researchers with a maximum of 2000 euros per project per year.
  • Deadline for applications is set on the 28th of March 2022.
  • Results will be announced in December 2022.
  • The projects will start January 1st 2023.

Project proposals have to be submitted simultaneously to the FWO by a research group from Flanders and at Campus France by a research group from France.
