Call for papers - 2nd edition of the Student Conference on Multilingualism and Diversity

Multilingualism & Diversity
Multilingualism & Diversity

Student Conference 'Multilingualism & Diversity', 12 July 2023, online

In today’s globalised world, mobility is part of the fabric of society, and multilingual communication and cross-cultural contact part of the daily reality in all domains of human activity. At the same time, multilingualism is still not valued and often seen as a ‘problem’ or ‘threat’ to social cohesion. In this context, the second student conference of the EUTOPIA Learning Community on Multilingualism and Diversity is focused on intercultural dialogue and linguistic in/exclusion. This online conference seeks to provide students with a platform where they can present their work to further develop our understanding in the subject matter, gain new insights and ideas, and develop further their research skills.

We invite papers on Multilingualism, which are related, but not limited to, the following topics:

  • The Professional World
    • such as: business, healthcare, the workplace, etc.
  • Global Issues
    • such as: intercultural communication, immigration, crisis communication, multilingualism in public spaces, etc.
  • Translation
    • such as: translation technology (e.g., machine translation), interpreting, audio-visual translation, etc.

Why we encourage you to apply:

Evidence-based academic discussions can inspire new ideas, especially with such a varied range of topics within the field of Multilingualism. This conference is the perfect opportunity to gain experience presenting your research in a supportive student community where you can practice your presentation and communication skills, while connecting with peers sharing similar academic interests. Participants will receive a certificate for their contributions.
