Education stands as a pivotal force in steering societal transformation towards sustainable development. Acknowledging this, we engage in the endeavour to transform learning, recognizing its potential to empower individuals to challenge existing norms, enhance critical thinking, and inspire action towards sustainability.
Universities within the EUTOPIA Alliance are at the forefront of this transformative journey, yet they encounter various barriers in implementing such an approach. These workshops aim to convene individuals from diverse academic backgrounds to explore the opportunities and obstacles to integrating transformative sustainability learning (TSL) across disciplines.
Embracing a multi-disciplinary, intercultural, and trans-institutional perspective, these workshops offer a platform for collaboration, aiming to systematically embed sustainability principles across academic domains. Students are encouraged to participate actively, assuming the role of change agents alongside educators and researchers.
Key Questions to Explore:
- What are the fundamental aspects of Transformative Sustainability Learning (TSL) across disciplines?
- How is Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) manifested in current academic programs?
- What opportunities and challenges are associated with implementing TSL in higher education?
- How can TSL be adapted to diverse educational and cultural contexts?
Participants will share experiences and co-create innovative curricular, pedagogical, and didactical approaches towards transformative learning in the context of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
