EUTOPIA's First visit to NOVA University of Lisbon.

Since the last months of 2021, EUTOPIA has grown from 6 to 10 universities.

There is no doubt that this enlargement strengthens an alliance in its work of thinking and testing innovative models for the future of European Higher Education. Every six months, EUTOPIA brings together all the people toiling in this perspective in one of the European cities where it is based. With the arrival of the new universities, it became necessary to add to the EUTOPIA Weeks a new format for discovering an academic institution in all its complexity, a city, a territory, a culture, all assets that it is difficult to perceive from a distance.

Therefore, EUTOPIA’s Strategic Board decided to visit each new institution in a smaller format, including the presidents, vice-presidents, and project managers. At the end of March, they met in Cluj-Napoca. They discovered the numerous facilities of the Babes-Bolyai University (UBB) and met with Ukrainian students and their families, for whom the UBB has taken multiple and laudable actions.

They met this end of May again but in Lisbon, discovering the NOVA University Lisbon, its scientific laboratories, and its Business School facing the Tagus. Needless to say, these visits are an opportunity to work in a friendly atmosphere and, above all, to go into greater depth on subjects that have only ever been touched on during exchanges of letters and meetings via flat screens; a human experience that shall be renewed at the Brussels EUTOPIA Week at the end of June. These onsite meetings show how engaged the alliance’s leading teams are and the conviction they show when assembling the founding stones of a future student-centred European University.
