EUTOPIA Week in Dresden - Press release

The ten partner universities of the European Universities Initiative EUTOPIA will meet for the first time at TU Dresden during the EUTOPIA Week

TU Dresden (TUD) has been a member of the EUTOPIA European University alliance since 2021 and will have the opportunity to present its research priorities to the EUTOPIA community during the EUTOPIA Week from December 4 to 6. For the first time ever, TUD will be hosting this event. The ten like-minded European partner universities are committed to creating a connected, integrative community that addresses both global and local challenges. The motto “Ecosystems of Innovation” provides the framework for the meeting in Dresden, in which the partners discuss the future potential of the EUTOPIA alliance and new ways of working together.

Around 200 guests are expected to attend the opening ceremony on December 4, including rectors, vice-rectors, student representatives, university lecturers, administrative staff, and experts – all of whom share the vision of EUTOPIA: to work together in a European alliance creating optimal teaching and learning environments and to network research in the best possible way. You can also watch the ceremony via live stream.

In addition to the points already mentions, the representatives of the ten member universities will discuss core topics such as sustainability, innovative teaching, technology transfer and research cooperation. A central component of the university alliance are “Connected Communities,” which create networks addressing current challenges in research and teaching. The call for participation for the upcoming “Connected Communities” runs until January 26, 2024.

The EUTOPIA Week marks the launch of the first “Young Leaders Academy” seminar. This two-year training program supports young researchers from EUTOPIA universities in taking on leadership roles in the future.

“The EUTOPIA Weeks are of central importance to the development of the alliance. That is why we are delighted to now welcome university members from all over Europe to our Dresden campus. Hosting the event offers TUD a fantastic opportunity to consolidate its position as a globally oriented university and to increase the involvement of its staff and within EUTOPIA”, highlights Professor Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector University Culture at TU Dresden and Vice-President in the EUTOPIA Alliance.

Delegates from EUTOPIA's central governing bodies (Board of Presidents, Advisory Council, Student Council, etc.) will meet in Dresden. In addition, members of the EUTOPIA TRAIN project will present the results of networking the research infrastructure within EUTOPIA and discuss a research and innovation policy.
