November at EUTOPIA is always marking Inclusion Month across its ten partner universities, reaffirming inclusion as one of the Alliance’s founding values. Alongside excellence, sustainability, cooperation, and academic freedom, inclusion drives EUTOPIA’s vision of universities as open, diverse, and innovative communities.
Inclusion at the Heart of Academia
EUTOPIA believes that openness and inclusion are not just ideals but essentials for European higher education. In an increasingly complex world, universities must do more than respond to change—they must help shape it by producing and sharing knowledge openly and equitably. That’s why Democracy, Inclusion & Equal Opportunities stands among EUTOPIA’s five key thematic priorities.
Connected Communities in Action
Through its Connected Communities—networks linking teachers, researchers, and students—EUTOPIA bridges divides within academia and between universities and society. These communities bring teaching and research closer together and promote inclusion through Internationalisation at Home, ensuring that global experiences are accessible to everyone, whether or not they can travel. Across EUTOPIA’s campuses, students and staff encounter a vibrant mix of perspectives, cultures, and academic practices.
Events Across Europe
From Cluj to Barcelona, Dresden to Lisbon and Gothenburg to Venice, partner universities are hosting conferences, discussions, and interactive sessions throughout November. These events will provide spaces to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore how inclusion can be strengthened in everyday academic life.
A Shared Commitment
Inclusion Month highlights EUTOPIA’s ongoing commitment to diversity and equal opportunity. It’s a moment to reflect on progress, celebrate achievements, and renew collective ambition. As a European alliance, EUTOPIA shows that diversity and inclusion are not just values to uphold—they are vital to the universities of the future.
EUTOPIA invites all students, researchers, teachers, and staff to join the Inclusion Month activities and help shape a more open, inclusive, and connected academic community across Europe
