As part of the EUTOPIA_HEALTH project’s Work Package 5, two interactive workshop-style training sessions will be held in December 2024 and another in January 2025, focusing on impact and science communication. Designed for both researchers and research managers, each session will host around 20 participants, ensuring an engaging and personalised learning experience.
The first session will take place in Ljubljana on December 9-10, followed by Cluj-Napoca on December 12-13. The third session will take place in Lisbon on January 16-17.
Impact Training
Led by Johan Emanuel, an experienced research advisor from the University of Gothenburg, the impact training will provide a comprehensive guide to increasing the societal and economic relevance of research. The agenda includes: exploring why collaboration enhances research impact, understanding local and European pathways to funding opportunities, engaging in interactive sessions on stakeholder value chains and impact canvases, practical advice for developing impact-focused proposals.
This workshop aims to equip participants with tools and strategies to navigate the complex landscape of impact-driven research funding at both national and EU levels.
Science Communication Training
Tailored to each host country, the science communication workshops will offer dynamic, hands-on learning. In Ljubljana, the training will be led by acclaimed science communicators Renata Dacinger and Saša Novak. The session will equip researchers with practical tools to adapt complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences through hands-on exercises and tailored techniques. In Romania and Portugal, the workshop will be facilitated by Joana Branco of Science Crunchers. It will delve into the fundamentals of effective science communication, including: audience analysis and narrative building, storytelling theory paired with practical exercises, tools for creating engaging outputs such as infographics and social media content.
Participants will actively work on their own examples, fostering a collaborative environment for feedback and growth.
These sessions promise to be transformative, empowering researchers and research managers to make their work more accessible, impactful, and engaging. Stay tuned for updates from these events as we continue building bridges between science and society.
