The Ecotopia programme held its graduation ceremony on 18 July 2025 in Rabat, Morocco, hosted by ESSEC.
Ecotopia is one of the first co-created Bachelor’s programmes by eight EUTOPIA universities. Over three years, the partner institutions have offered a joint curriculum delivered simultaneously across their campuses. The programme gives students the unique opportunity to work in international teams at Bachelor level, developing both disciplinary expertise and cross-cultural skills.
Designed to train future leaders and engaged citizens, Ecotopia combines economics, management, finance and business with a strong emphasis on adaptability, cooperation and lifelong learning.
The graduation day in Rabat included a visit to Salé’s Social and Digital Incubator, a conference on sustainable development in Africa, the formal graduation ceremony, and a closing dinner in the city’s medina.
Opening the ceremony, Charlotte Simunek, Director of the Ecotopia Programme, spoke of the “pioneering spirit” behind the initiative:
“Like entrepreneurship, Ecotopia is about disrupting the status quo. It’s about choosing a new path to create real, positive impact—a concrete contribution to building a better world.”
“You are the leaders of a changing world. You will be the game changers where change is needed, the guardians of values where they must be protected. By building bridges across disciplines and countries, you have learned that stronger, more sustainable solutions come from diverse perspectives.”
The ceremony also featured student reflections, the presentation of graduates by Albert Carreras (ESCI-UPF) and Laura Parisio (Ca’ Foscari University), and closing remarks from Hicham Sebti (ESSEC Africa).
