Connected Communities in Action: ‘Across Borders: A Transdisciplinary Dialogue on Migration'

From 21 October to 24 November, 56 undergraduate and postgraduate students from CY Cergy Paris University, the University of Ljubljana, Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and the University of Warwick participated in the 2024 Global Connections Online Cross-university Migration Project entitled ‘Across Borders: A Transdisciplinary Dialogue on Migration'.

After an online session to introduce the concept to students, fellows worked for 4 weeks in cross-university, cross-level and cross-disciplinary teams to reflect on an aspect of migration and produce an artefact in the medium of their choice. Groups also had to present their artefact in a pre-recorded 10-minute video presentation before taking part in an online Q&A with academic discussants and another group. Teams produced a variety of research-informed artefacts such as podcasts, magazines, stories, posters, maps, etc.

The Connected Learning Community members were impressed by the quality of the work and the creativity deployed. This activity was embedded in the students’ curriculum for CY, UPF and UW, which means that their mark for this EUTOPIA project will count in their overall mark for their home module. Students said they enjoyed confronting their perspectives to peers from other countries, and to have creative freedom in their assignment.
