As part of the EUTOPIA alliance, and with financial support from the Erasmus+ programme, the University of Ljubljana is organising the third edition of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “
Urban Education”, open to students from various European universities.
From Monday, November 17 to Friday, November 21, 2025, the University of Ljubljana will host around 40 students and researchers from Barcelona, Brussels, CY Cergy Paris, Cluj- Napoca, Dresden, and Warwick for a full-time residential training and research seminar focused on education in European metropolitan areas, especially in priority neighbourhoods.
The programme will explore geographical, pedagogical, political, sociological, and visual dimensions. The main working language is English. During the seminar, you’ll be assigned to a multinational group (4–6 students) and work together to design and carry out a field investigation on a specific educational site, in collaboration with local stakeholders and guided by a defined research question. Each group will be supported by academic mentors. The schedule will alternate between on-site fieldwork and group or plenary sessions at the university.
What does participation involve?
According to Erasmus+ guidelines, a BIP (Blended Intensive Program) combines online and in-person learning.
By registering, you commit to actively participating in:
- Three online meetings (Tuesdays: October 21, November 4, and December 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM), which require preparation before and after each session.
- The residential seminar in Ljubljana, from the morning of Monday, November 17 to midday Friday, November 21, during which each group will conduct an intensive investigation.
Active participation will be recognised with a certificate worth 3 ECTS credits.
Who can apply?
There are no academic level requirements – whether you're in your first year of undergraduate studies or a PhD, you’re welcome to apply.
However, your application should clearly demonstrate:
- Your interest in the theme of the BIP
- Your commitment to actively participate in this short but intensive programme
- Your ability to work in English (oral fluency is most important)
