Consortium-related news

  • In September, CY Cergy Paris Université submitted a project to a call for proposals from the French National Research Agency. The call was meant to give French universities part of a European University, additional funding for the project implementation. CY Cergy Paris Université was selected late December and will receive 1.06 milion euros.   
 
  • CY Cergy Paris Université is the new official name of the University of Cergy-Pontoise, we kindly ask you to use this name in all documents to come.  
 
  • The UPF is welcoming new staff members who joined the UPF EUTOPIA Team: Diana Nabih, who will lead the WP4 and has responsibilities regarding WP7.2; and Aida Torres, WP2 Academic Coordinator.   
 
  • A Dissemination officer, Mr Armando Uribe-Echeverria, has been recruted by CY Cergy Paris Université for EUTOPIA and joins the CY EUTOPIA team.  
 
  • From January onwards, Lize De Potter (VUB) will be taking over Carmen Mazijn’s duties. As a recent International and European Law graduate, Lize has joined the VUB EUTOPIA team.  

Events

  • From 29th to 31st of January, representants from all EUTOPIA partners are meeting in Ljubljana for the official Kick-off meeting of the project. During those three days, a presentation of each WP will be done by the Leads and Co-Leads to all partners. Joint WP meetings will also take place in order to discuss the possible synergies between the different WPs. An executive Board meeting is also planned on the 30th.   • The UNA is organising a kick-off event of their European Universities pilot 1EUROPE which will take place during the evening of 22 January (17:30-20:00, followed by networking reception) at Herman Teirlinckgebouw – next to Tour & Taxis (Havenlaan 88, 1000 Brussel). Ms. Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth will be present as keynote speaker.   • The 2020 Regional Studies Association (RSA) Annual Conference “Transformations: Relational Spaces, beyond Urban and Rural” is being organized in Ljubljana on the 17th June in partnership with the School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana. This four-day conference brings together academics and policymakers to exchange news, views and research findings from the fields of regional studies and science, regional and economic development, policy and planning.  There will be representation from around 50 different global territories as both established experts and early career researchers will be present. More information on this event here.  
 
  • The School of Economics and Business of the University of Ljubljana welcomes you to the 2020 Annual Conference of the Emerging Markets Conference Board on June 2-3. The annual EMCB conferences aim to gather marketing scholars and practitioners interested in issues and challenges of marketing and related management issues in emerging markets. This is the first time for the Emerging Markets Conference Board (EMCB) conference to take place in Europe and this offers opportunity to shed more light also to emerging markets within the European context. More information on this event here

Opportunities

  • Student and staff photography competition. The University of Warwick’s Migration, Identity, and Translation Network invites students and staff from across the EUTOPIA institutions to submit artworks that address the research theme 'Multilingualism' in broad its terms. Collaborations are highly encouraged.  This competition aims to provide a creative opportunity to represent multilingualism through visual means and to raise awareness about innovative ways of understanding multilingualism. Amazon vouchers are offered as prizes for the first, second and third placed entries.
