"It was an absolutely incredible five days meeting that included a large delegation from NOVA and from the other nine European universities that make up the EUTOPIA alliance.
Known as EUTOPIA Week, the meeting took place in the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia, between the 21st and 25th of November, and started with the election of a new President and a new Vice-President of the alliance, namely Tiziana Lippielo, Rector of Ca' Foscari University of Venice and Stuart Croft, Rector of the University of Warwick.
The first day of the meeting was also hallmarked by the signing of the Global Partners Charter, a letter of commitment with a number of global partners - namely South Africa, Morocco, South Korea and Australia, with another partner, proposed by NOVA, in South America to be added soon.
The Rectors of all the other universities in EUTOPIA also underwrote the Manifesto for Inclusion, a document that, as the Rector of NOVA, Professor João Ságua, highlighted, "reflects the European values and the importance of organisations being ecosystems of people with the greatest diversity possible".
NOVA also stood out in the External Advisory Board, a meeting with the Vice-Rector, Professor João Amaro de Matos, among the speakers.
But that's not all. As a meeting of universities, there were obviously students from NOVA, such as Bernardo Serôdio, Marta Pena, and Sílvia Teixeira, respectively from FCT NOVA, NOVA School of Law and NOVA FCSH, who actively participated in the meetings of EUTOPIA Student Think Thank.
Rodrigo Cruz, PhD student in Sociology at FCSH NOVA, was chosen to represent NOVA at the EUTOPIA Science Slam, a kind of scientific lecture in which scientists present their own work in a simple way and in a few minutes, an event that took place through the night in the cold but beautiful Ljubljana."
