EUTOPIA at the THE European Universities Summit

The Times Higher Education Summit on the theme “Alliances for The Future: Bridging Education Across Europe” was held at University of Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain on 16 and 17 May 2022. The event was co-sponsored by EUTOPIA University Alliance, one of the major milestones for the alliance in its initial phase. The summit mainly focused on the benefits of European University Alliances on building a resilient and progressive higher education system.

European Higher Education system is at the crossroads of major transitions. Europe is redefining the Higher Education ecosystem by incorporating the UN SDGs towards a more sustainable society. The European University Alliances Initiative is one of the important steps implementing by the Commission to bring the universities across Europe and the globe to a knowledge sharing collaboration. The summit brought together experts to have intensive and enlightening discussions about the future of these universities and European Higher Education in general.

The opportunity was a great one for EUTOPIA as it provided a great platform for the alliance to disseminate about it to a wider audience in the post-pandemic scenario and broaden its network. It was the first major physical event for EUTOPIA after its implementation as an alliance in 2019.  Almost all the European partner universities of the alliance had their representatives attending the summit. We utilised this chance to explain what the alliance means and the success stories so far to a more or less global audience. The dissemination was reinforced with adequate printed materials and responding to the queries. Almost everyone presented at the event initiated an interaction visiting the booth EUTOPIA had put up and engaging in fruitful conversations.
