EUTOPIA Hybrid Event AI in Higher Education - Opportunities and Challenges hosted by Babeș-Bolyai University

Join us this May in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, or online, for a two-day exploration of how artificial intelligence is reshaping higher education. This event will bring together a dynamic group of EUTOPIA Young Leaders Academy (YLA) Fellows, researchers, and educators to explore how AI is transforming teaching, research, and learning across disciplines.

Programme

  • Day 1 – May 12: Reflection and dialogue

The first day features personal insights from YLA Fellows and a keynote by Nompilo Tshuma (Stellenbosch University, EUTOPIA Global Partner), focusing on Generative AI and the development of postgraduate identity. Afternoon sessions will include talks by faculty members from STEM disciplines to the humanities, exploring how AI intersects with academic research, ethical inquiry, and disciplinary practice. The day concludes with a roundtable discussion bringing together diverse academic voices on the role of AI in higher education. The event will take place both on-site and online (hybrid). Attendance in person is limited to 50 persons, and registration for both on-site and online participants is needed (see detail at the end). Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Day 2 – May 13: Practice and skills

The second day is dedicated to practical engagement through two training sessions focused on practical AI tools and critical perspectives for teaching, research, and academic communication. These sessions are designed to equip early-career academics with relevant skills and thoughtful approaches to integrating AI into their academic work. This event will take place only on-site, so attendance is only possible in person. As attendance is limited to 25 persons, we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

This hybrid event welcomes academics interested in the evolving relationship between AI and higher education. Full program will be shared soon. Coffee breaks and lunches will be provided by the organisers.

Registration must be made through the following form before the 9th of May, 2025.
