EUTOPIA Innovation Challenges for Students: Discovery Week, hosted by the prestigious Babeș-Bolyai University!
Babes-Bolyai University hosted the first Hackathon of the EUTOPIA Series, called "EUTOPIA Innovation Challenges for Students: Discovery Week" in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It was an unforgettable experience of learning, collaboration, problem-solving, networking and innovation.
With 80 students representing 10 countries and organized into 13 workgroups, the diversity and collaboration were truly inspiring. The students not only engaged in cultural enrichment activities but also tackled cultural and language barriers head-on, working together in mixed groups from various university fields and countries. Guided by experienced mentors, they took on challenges presented by Romanian companies, engaging in brainstorming sessions to find innovative solutions. They also received training on presentation skills and delivered compelling 3-minute pitches to sell their solutions, impressing a jury composed of entrepreneurs. Additionally, they had the invaluable opportunity to hear presentations from each participating company, witnessing firsthand how real-life entrepreneurs pitch and present their ideas, learning diverse methods of pitching. Amidst their packed schedules, on Wednesday, the students enjoyed visits to the Botanical Garden and the Art Museum in Cluj, further enriching their experience.
During these five days, the event unfolded across various locations, including the Aula Magna, Auditorium Maximum, Pyramid Restaurant, Casino ~ Centre for Urban Culture, and ClujHUB, where they delivered their 3-minute presentations. The closing reception ceremony took place at the art museum in the Bánffy Palace, Cluj-Napoca, adding a touch of cultural richness to the event.
