Arizona State University and Universidad de los Andes, The New Global Partners

EUTOPIA is pleased to welcome two new partners to its global network in service of the Alliance’s collective mission to develop a new model for collaboration encompassing Education, Research, Innovation and service to society.

As a consortium of Higher Education institutions open to the world, EUTOPIA benefits from coworking with universities beyond Europe: Monash University (Australia), Université Internationale de Rabat (Morocco), Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Kyungpook National University (South Korea). We are delighted to announce that this group is now reinforced by two prominent institutions: Arizona State University (United States) and Universidad de Los Andes (Colombia).

EUTOPIA recognises that European universities’ ambitions to confront the global challenges of an integrated world cannot cease at our frontiers. Our work to develop the European Higher Education Area and a model for cross-border integration between universities is relevant to all continents. With the participation of Arizona State and Universidad de los Andes, EUTOPIA gains valuable like-minded partners in North and South America.

Arizona State University (ASU)

Founded on a bold vision two decades ago, Arizona State University has successfully embarked on a trajectory to become a comprehensive knowledge enterprise dedicated to excellence, broad access to quality education, and meaningful societal impact. ASU exemplifies a new prototype for the American public research university, fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion that draws pioneering researchers to its faculty and attracts highly qualified students from across the globe. Today, ASU continues to expand academic and entrepreneurial opportunities, catering to learners at all stages of life. ASU is number one in the US for Innovation and number one in the US and top 10 in the world for global impact in research, outreach, and stewardship.

Universidad de los Andes (UNIANDES)

Founded in 1948, Universidad de Los Andes is an autonomous, independent, and innovative institution dedicated to pluralism, tolerance, and the respect of ideas. It is Colombia’s first private, secular, and politically independent higher education institution. The university aims to provide students with a critical and ethical education, instilling a strong sense of social and civic responsibility. Universidad de Los Andes has been a trailblazer in Colombian higher education, aiming to educate and contribute to developing a new nation. The institution’s commitment to excellence, interdisciplinary education, and flexible learning environments has made it a model for other Colombian universities.

As new global partners, ASU and Universidad de los Andes will join the existing cohort of global partners within the EUTOPIA alliance, contributing their unique perspectives and expertise to enhance further the Alliance’s mission of collaborative advancement in education and research. With this broader and more diverse network of partnerships, EUTOPIA is a more robust alliance with a greater impact on society, opening the prospect of a more attractive inter-university campus.
