The Institute of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) will host an international symposium on May 7–8, 2026, bringing together leading researchers and practitioners from across Europe. The event is part of the EUTOPIA Connected Community “United Minds. A Connected Approach to Trauma, Resilience, and Mental Health”.
The symposium will explore a broad spectrum of contemporary topics in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, featuring an international lineup of speakers. Among them are Anika Konrad (TUD), Andrei Miu (Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania), Luna Grosselli (TUD), Verena Wüllhorst (TUD), Aurora Szentagotai-Tatar (Babeș-Bolyai University), and Domenico Giacco (University of Warwick, UK).
The first day will focus on affective and socio-affective mechanisms, including pathways to posttraumatic stress, trauma and empathy, war-related mental health, inhibitory control in alcohol use disorder, childhood adversity, and digital interventions for youth.
The second day will feature presentations by Miriam Schiele (TUD), Frank Van Overwalle (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Judith Schäfer (TUD), and Lara Maliske (TUD), further highlighting the symposium’s interdisciplinary and international scope. The focus will shift to new developments in psychotherapy and neuroscience, covering emerging models in behavioral psychotherapy, the role of the cerebellum in neuromodulation, and biases in trauma-related disorders. The programme will conclude with research on social cognition, followed by workshops and a social gathering.
The symposium is open to both in-person and online participants.
