Hans Müller-Steinhagen was the Rector of the Dresden University of Technology and the Chairman of the Board of DRESDEN-concept from 2010 until 2020. This was followed by two years as President of Dresden International University and Member of the Executive Board of TU Dresden Stock Company. Before moving to Dresden, he was the Director of the Institute for Thermodynamics and Thermal Engineering at the University of Stuttgart and the Director of the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics of the German Aerospace Center. Prior appointments include a Professorship for Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Surrey in Guildford, and an Associate-Professorship for Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland. Prof. Müller-Steinhagen is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom, a member of the German Academy of Science and Technology, and he serves in the Innovation Council of the Prime Minister of Saxony, Germany. For his services to Engineering, Higher Education and International Collaboration he was awarded honorary doctorates from universities in the Czech Republic, South Korea and Iran. In 2020, he received Germany’s Federal Cross of Merit for his outstanding contribution to twice achieving excellence status for the TU Dresden and his exceptional social commitment to Dresden’s urban society.
