João Pequeno

Science Manager at the Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre – NOVA FCT – NOVA University Lisbon

Following the first edition in 2025, a new cohort of research managers from different areas of expertise and level of experience will be enrolled in the EUTOPIA_HEALTH Training Programme for Research Managers: Advancing Institutional Excellence, and will have access to a diverse range of online, offline and face-to-face sessions, complemented by practical activities and case studies. This 30-hour programme has been designed to strengthen the skills of science management professionals, preparing them to respond to the challenges of the global scientific ecosystem.

João Pequeno, a participant from last year’s cohort, shares his experience:

“As an early-career science manager, this programme has been really valuable in helping me understand how complex research environments actually work. At first it can feel overwhelming, but being able to learn from more experienced colleagues and share perspectives across different institutions makes a huge difference. EUTOPIA_HEALTH creates that space, not just to learn, but to see how we connect and collaborate at a broader European level.”
