EUTOPIA_HEALTH Hackathon

As part of the EUTOPIA_HEALTH project, we are pleased to invite researchers from the consortium to apply for an exciting hackathon taking place from September to October 2026.

Four Health-related challenges have been proposed by non-academic partners: Farmácias Holon, EVITA, NTT DATA and Testa & Cunha. Interdisciplinary teams of researchers at all career levels (including PhD candidates) will come together to co-develop and propose innovative solutions.

The hackathon will include three main moments:

  • 16 September: an online session
  • 16 September – 27 October: mentoring period (online)
  • 27-29 October: onsite sessions hosted in Lisbon

Design Thinking and other methodologies will guide idea development, concept refinement and feedback from partners, with the shared goal of improving citizens’ health and well-being.

Four challenges proposed by:

How to improve adherence to polypharmacy treatments (generally defined as the use of five or more medications) to reduce disease progression and hospitalizations?

Proposed by Famácias Holon

How to support healthcare professionals in identifying and managing patients at risk of hereditary cancer?

Proposed by EVITA

How can we transform environmental data into personalized recommendations to prevent health risks in everyday life?

Proposed by NTT PORTUGAL

How might we assess the medical and/or nutritional use of innovative marine ingredients derived from blue mussel, horse mackerel, and Atlantic chub mackerel, including their extracted oils, to determine their potential for commercialisation in the EU market?

Proposed by Testa & Cunhas, SA

How to apply:

Apply by 14 June by completing this form: EUTOPIA_HEALTH HACKATHON – Registration Forms

Each university in the consortium will be responsible for participants’ selection based on the number of available places, their commitment to attend all sessions, and the relevance of the applicant’s profile to the Health domain.
