Research-based learning workshop

The interdisciplinary research-based learning workshop project brought together experts in social security law, labour law, tax law and other fields to study legal challenges arising from the increasing mobility of workers.
All participating students are currently writing their master’s thesis on legal challenges linked to mobility and the changing world of work, covering topics such as digital nomads, telework across borders and worker mobility.
During the workshop, students presented their research proposals and received feedback from peers and academics, including Marjan Kos, Luka Mišič and Primož Rataj from Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana, Rosa Freitas Soares and Rita Calçada Pires from NOVA Tax Research Lab and Eleni De Becker and Evelien Timbermont from Brussels Centre for Law, Government and Society (BruCeL).
The programme also included sessions on research methodology, research communication and dissemination, helping students further develop their thesis projects and think about how their work can reach a broader audience.
Academic workshop

On 26 March 2026, we organised an expert workshop in Brussels in the framework of the edited book project EU Social Security Coordination: Contemporary Challenges and Future Directions. The workshop brought together the book editors, chapter authors and invited discussants to present and critically discuss the draft book chapters. The programme consisted of an introductory plenary session, followed by parallel sessions in which each paper was discussed by designated experts. The workshop concluded with a collective reflection on the main themes, cross-cutting questions and further development of the book manuscript.
