The Challenge
Health research is fragmented. Scientists, public health experts, economists, and mental health professionals work in separate silos rather than together. This fragmentation makes it nearly impossible to solve complex health challenges effectively—especially when emerging fields need new academic frameworks to thrive.
The SolutioN
Breaking down disciplinary barriers unleashes better solutions. EUTOPIA_HEALTH builds transdisciplinary collaboration in health research across Portugal, Slovenia, and Romania—creating the integrated institutional approach needed for research excellence and real societal impact.
What are We DoinG?
EUTOPIA_HEALTH is focused on transforming health research by breaking down disciplinary silos and developing shared frameworks for collaboration among universities. The initiative aligns strategies and practices, enabling researchers to work together more effectively in the European Research Area.
The project also enhances support for health research and innovation by improving management practices through training and resources, helping institutions, especially in resource-limited countries, to compete in international health programmes.
Connecting health research communities is another key goal. EUTOPIA_HEALTH fosters collaboration among scientists, clinicians, and social scientists through mobility schemes and seed funding, creating a network of expertise in health research across Europe.
Additionally, the initiative promotes dynamic innovation ecosystems that connect universities with industry, public authorities, and citizens, turning scientific knowledge into practical solutions.
Lastly, EUTOPIA_HEALTH encourages transdisciplinary research, bringing together diverse expertise to address pressing health challenges and fostering a new generation of research that is both scientifically excellent and socially relevant.
