Lauriane Simony is a Lecturer in British civilization at CY Cergy Paris University, within the AGORA research laboratory. Her research focuses on the history of soft power, cultural diplomacy, and British propaganda since the second half of the 20th century.
Her doctoral thesis examined the role of cultural diplomacy in the context of the decolonization of the British Empire in Southeast Asia, particularly in Burma. She is now interested in British cultural diplomacy, and more specifically musical diplomacy, during the Cold War.
