José Júlio Alferes is Professor at the Department of Informatics of Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade (FCT) at NOVA University Lisbon. He has a PhD in Computer Science – Artificial Intelligence (1993) and has mostly focused his research work in this scientific area. He is, since 2012, Fellow of the European Society for Artificial Intelligence – EurAI.
He published more than 100 papers in journal and scientific conferences in Artificial Intelligence and more broadly in Computer Science, including in venues such as Artificial Intelligence, ACM Transactions on Computational Logic, Theoretical Computer Science, International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, International Conference on Semantic Web.
He has participated and coordinated several projects at European and National level, and regularly serves as reviewer of scientific projects for international agencies. He teaches at BSc, MSc and PhD level in Artificial Intelligence, Databases, Computational Logics and Information Systems.
