Jean-Philippe Van West is Professor of International and European Tax Law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and a member of the Brussels Centre for Law, Government and Society (BruCeL) His research focuses on the evolving framework of international and European tax law in a globalised and digitalised world, and the interaction between domestic, European, and international tax rules. His scholarly work integrates legal analysis, tax policy, and interdisciplinary approaches to address pressing societal challenges and inform legislative and policy developments. As part of his research, he explores how international tax rules and EU primary law apply to increasingly mobile individuals in a globalised and digitalised labour market. Jean-Philippe is a member of the editorial board of Algemeen Fiscaal Tijdschrift, a leading Belgian tax journal, and regularly does peer reviews for (international) journals.
