Filia Garivaldis is a Senior Lecturer at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI). She is the Course Director and Convenor of the Master of Behaviour and Systemic Change, and the co-founder of the C21 Educational Research Lab. She is an active member of various research groups at Monash University, contributing her expertise in behavioural science and psychology. Her research focuses on investigating and applying behavioural insights into education programs, to improve a range of teaching and learning challenges, in online as well as face to face modalities. Since joining MSDI in 2019, Filia has been leading the development of new behaviour change education programs with BehaviourWorks Australia, including “Applying Behavioural Science to Create Change”, which was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Industry and Community Education Programs in 2023, and a MOOC in collaboration with the United Nation’s SDG Academy. Filia received a Dean’s Award for Technological Innovation in Learning and Teaching for the development of the Psychology Research Portal (2019), and was shortlisted twice for a Business in Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) award for Outstanding Collaboration in Higher Education and Training, and specifically for Expanding and Improving 4th Year Psychology Education in Australia (2018 & 2019). She has published widely in this area in leading peer-review journals and books, and also co-edited the joint Monash University-King’s College London textbook “Tertiary Online Teaching and Learning: TOTAL Digital Education Perspectives and Resources” (2020).
