Sport en maatschappij LK

Description: During the lectures (HOC), the fundamental principles of (sport) sociology are covered. Particular attention is given to the main sociological theories of action that are relevant to sport, as well as to the various social functions and meanings of sport. This provides a general framework for situating and critically discussing the place and role of sport within a number of major societal developments and issues.

In addition, methodological aspects and potential pitfalls in measuring overall sports participation are examined, and the participation rates of underrepresented or disadvantaged groups are discussed.

To encourage further reflection and deeper engagement, students write a reflection paper as part of the WPO. The core content of the paper consists of a reflection from four different perspectives: personal, academic, professional, and socio-cultural/societal.
