From September 14th to 18th, 2026, the fourth EUTOPIA Impact School took place, organized and supported by the Graduate Academy of TU Dresden.
This year, 30 young researchers from the EUTOPIA partner universities came together. In the inspiring setting of the Protestant Education Center on Schwanenwerder near Berlin, they enjoyed an exclusive professional development program on science communication.
From research to press release
Under the professional guidance of science journalists Hannes Schlender and Dirk Hans from scienceRELATIONS, the participants wrote press releases about their respective research projects.
In addition, they gained initial experience in front of the camera during interview and media training and further developed their skills in practical exercises.
Presenting research in an understandable way
In an intensive pitch training session, participants learned to communicate their research topics clearly and precisely, even beyond their own specialist community. This resulted in compelling pitches, which were presented to the group on the last day of the event.
Exchange and networking
The program was complemented by a variety of evening activities that offered opportunities for networking, exchange, and collaborative work.
Biotechnologist and science slammer Lisa Budzinski was also a guest. In her inspiring presentation, she shared her personal experiences and then engaged in a discussion with the participants.
This led to a stimulating exchange about science communication and the various ways to make research accessible to a broad audience.
